Racoons in Haarlem?
There sure are!

Smallest zoo

Racoons can be found along with ferrets, nandu, porcupines as well as several other animals in the smallest zoo in the Netherlands: Artisklas. Over the years Artisklas has had its fair share of setbacks but somehow always found a way to get back up and open its doors to the children of Haarlem.

Anything is possible

After several renovations to provide bigger and better accommodations for some of the animals, Artisklas has also made improvements to ensure the safety of their (smallest) visitors. Harald Ames, director of Artisklas, and his team of volunteers are available and ready to share the stories behind the animals that currently live there. Field trips? Birthdayparties? “Anything is possible!” claims Harald. Open only on the weekends, this is the perfect place to spend an hour or two with the family.
