You probably already know by now that there is more than enough to entertain your little one in and around Haarlem. But did you know that several beautiful brands were established here as well? From fun and adorable books to beautifully crafted clothing and shoes. Below we have listed a few of our favorite products for kids founded by Haarlem based entrepreneurs. Have you heard of any of them before?
Artie Farty and Artie Farty LAB
Our founder Nicoline is the author of ‘Mugjes’, the must have guide for activities and entertainment in Haarlem. But did you know that she has written two more books?
‘Artie Farty’ and ‘Artie Farty LAB’ are full of arts and crafts ideas to keep your kids, 5 years and up, entertained for hours!
‘Artie Farty’ is a fantastic handbook with ideas for parents and teachers alike. It also helps kids develop an interest in art and is filled with tips on how to make the most out of your visit to a museum with your family.
‘Artie Farty LAB’ is fun for those who like to spend time in the kitchen but also enjoy arts & crafts on a rainy afternoon. You’ll find recipes to make your own paper, paint or even snow!

Dusq
When Louise (Haarlem) and Linda (Egmond) became mothers, they wanted beautiful, functional as well as sustainable products for their little ones. And so, in 2018 the label Dusq was born. You may have seen their ‘two in one’ sustainable leather or canvas family oriented backpacks. Or their handy organizers that are easily hung on a stroller or even in your car. All equally functional as well as sustainable.
They also have a beautiful ‘slow fashion’ clothing collection available year-round. And have you seen their adorable wool lined leather booties (with zipper!) that are perfect for those first steps?
You can find several Dusq items at Kleine heldeN in Haarlem or at Maneki Neko in Heemstede. Dusq is also available online and in several international stores.

Kira Marcopoulos and Sheila Wigman don’t only run the store, but they also established Mighty Tiny, a brand full of timeless, super soft items for kids. From soft little onesies and sweaters with wooden button details and wool pants with cotton lining. Mighty Tiny’s basic and super soft outfits are all made in Portugal.

NOOX City Kids
If you’ve been shopping for a gift for a newly born citizen, you might have seen the adorable books by NOOX City Kids. ‘Welcome to town, sweet little one’ or the books with a chubby little pigeon visiting the other animals in town are both colorful and highly entertaining for little ones.
They also have the perfect rompers for a true city kid. To truly make it one of a kind, you can have the rompers as well as the soft books printed with the little one’s name.
Several NOOX City Kids items can be found at Kiekeboek and De Vries van Stockum, both located in Haarlem. And even though the owners of NOOX City Kids might not live in this part of town, they do deserve an honorable mention in our list. Want to know why? More about that soon!

Petit Puk
It all started when Annemarie (Heemstede) refurbished an old wooden rocking horse. When the interest grew and she received more and more orders, she decided to work with a local sheltered employment center. Together they have been producing the most beautiful, handcrafted rocking horses for over four years.
We bought one of her rocking horses when our youngest daughter turned one. Since it is so beautifully crafted and well made, we’ve decided to hold on to it for when she has a family of her own.
For more info on the rocking horses or beautiful wooden chairs with cute little details, beds and closets all available at reasonable pricing visit petitpuk.com
Wilson’s Paradise
Soft socks and underwear in all the colors of the rainbow, that pretty much sums up Wilson’s Paradise! Free from labels and seaming, Kiki Stegweg (Haarlem) designed these products specifically with highly sensitive kids in mind. All of the products are made of all natural materials, so you won’t hear your little one complain about itchy, annoying stitching.
Available online and at Kids Store Haarlem as well as at Maneki Neko in Heemstede.
